Bettie Page - the legendary Queen of Pin-up
The Playboy started in 1955 with an unique playmate who had many contrasts and many similar things as Marilyn. She was Bettie Page.
Bettie-as Marilyn- came from a small town and had lots of innocence besides nakedness and sexuality. The main contrast between Marilyn and Bettie was that Marilyn was the top in Hollywood but Bettie was in the lower niveau products as photoclubs, cheap black and white prints and nudie mags and often in bondage, sado mazo things.
Bettie was born in the 22th of April, 1923 in Nashville, Tennessee was the second child of Walter Roy Page and Mae Pirtle.
Absolutely she was the most photographed pinup model in the 50’s. She had countless publications in men’s magazines( included the Playboy!!!), pictures posted by mail, advertisements, covers, and also in a few films, tv shows until 1957, when she suddenly disappeared.
Her beautiful curves, and really unique raven black hair with the legendary and style guide bangs are more beloved ever! Her photos gave and give tonns of inspirations for artists, bondage/s/m enthusiasts, designers, writers, pinup girls, and for the other audience too. In 1992 she appeared again and the world got to know the reason of her disappear: she just wants to live her own, private life that’s all! And she enjoyed she have many and many fans, done interwievs but never let anybody to take a picture of her. She wanted to everyone has the original image of her, from the 1950’s.
Betty or Bettie?
It’s always a question but the answer in her parish register she had the Betty Mae Page but she used Bettie since her childhood. Betty was better known in her films, because it’s simple. So we can use both versions, both are correct.
