It’s all about attitude- Interwiev with the authors of Frauleinwunder Magazine part 2
And now here’s this two girls genius idea a magazine as thrilling as an jewellery box ( you MUST touch it, you MUST open it and you amazed)
A magazine what stuffed with all things what are alluring, sweet and exciting for a girl and stunning for boys thinking: ” What does she like/want?” the Frauleinwunder Magazine!!!!
RP: First: what does the word frauleinwunder means?
S: The expression ‚Fräuleinwunder’ was created in 1952 by the American Press, when the first official Miss Germany visited the U.S. Till then ‚Fräulein’ was just the old fashioned German word for a young woman, who is not yet married. Susanne Erichsen was young, she was classy and she was overwhelming beautiful. Born into a average middle-class German family, she wanted to break out and reach the stars. She appeared in all Fashion Magazines, as e.g. ‚Life’ and made in one hour more money than a factory worker in one month.
She introduced a new era of selfconfident, modern and independent women, so ‚Fräuleinwunder’ became for one decade a synonyme for style, attitude and class. A promise we still want to keep.
RP: What brought you the idea to make a magazine?
S: It was Mickys Idea. She’s been working for a German concert magazine for a while, but wanted to do her own thing. When she offered me to start this together with her, I knew it was perfect! I’m in charge for the layout, the beauty section, the photography etc and she is adding her phenomenal writing skills and her punkrock attitude! The fist thing I thought when she spoke about it was: “I’d totally buy it!” - so it was clear that we had to realize it.
RP: What would you like to represent with it?
M: The dark and the bright side of Rock’N’Roll. I guess, we found the perfect mixture between Punkrock, PinUp Culture, Fashion etc…It’s meant to be a collectible, as some guys are collecting all Playboys Issues since 1971 (My Dad did that;-)
S: It should be a classy coffee-table-magazine that peopel will not want to throw away because they love it so much!
RP: I think you were totally excited when you sit down and started thinking on the exact idea, the things for it, the main conception…etc. Was it difficult?
M: No, to create it is the easiest part of it! We have so many ideas and inspiration, we could easily fill the next 10 issues. The most difficult thing for me is to hold my own deadlines. That’s my weak point. God thanx, I have Sweetness who pushes me then. She is perfect in that – without annoying me- that’s the most important part of it.
S: Not at all! It was so much fun to have a medium where you could finally speak about all the things you love!
RP: Did you have people who helped you?
M: Yeah, we would’nt be able to go on without all those generous, talented people
S: Oh YES! We wouldn’t be here without the help of so many talented people who kindly offered to spread the word, to send us photos we could use etc.
RP: When the first issue cames out, you receive comments, feedbacks from it. What are people welcomed the mag?
S: The first feedbacks were amazing! I think we really found a niche here, as if people were waiting very long for such a magazine. We got some really nice comments, emails, reviews! Oh and I love to watch how they take it in their hands and feel the heavyweight paper.
RP: I think you found a lot of interesting subjects, interviews and infos for the mag, what are really must have to knows. From where you gather the ideas?
M: Mainly from the internet, but sometimes also at shows and of course in everyday life. I am a sucker for any kind of unusual things. You has just have to keep your eyes wide open.
RP: What’s the main conception of the mag for searching topics?
M: We are trying to find a good mixture, Sweetness interests are a bitt different than mine and we inspire each other…It shouldn’t be too girlie, but also it still as to stay a girls magazine…We walk the line.
RP: When I read the first issue I tought I’ll have to buy the next too! When will you represent the next issue?
