Maya Hansen – the masterpieces of corsetry
We discovered a real talented Spanish clothing designer, Maya Hansen.
Her works besides enthralling, the perfect examples of pin-up or nowadays subcultural and non-subcultural ideals of women. To clear it up: she creates for more subcultures and have another pieces not for one or ready to wear everyday – this depends the courage of wearer and the composition of clothes.

Maya Carbajal Alex-Hansen, daughter of an Argentinian father and a Danish mother, graduates with honors at the CSDMM in Madrid, Spain and becomes the alma mater of the brand Maya Hansen in 2004. Initially, her work focuses around gothic aesthetics.
She becomes a corsétière in 2006 and the focus of all her collections is this extraordinary piece of clothing. She dedicates her time not only to the design of corsets but also to the investigation of corset technique: the patterns, materials and textiles from the beginning of 20th century. Using only the best quality textiles and materials, Maya Hansen makes her corsets a unique and in many cases unrepeatable piece, manufactured with great care and love for detail.
Now she based in Madrid, but also available in Spain, UK, USA, Japan, Switzerland, France, Netherlands and Lithuania as well as trough the website boutique.
Many celebrity loves her corsets, like Rossy De Palma, Pilar Rubio, and lots of pretty ladies of the pin-up culture and the world of burlesque: Vinila Von Bishmark, Bernie Dexter, Sabina Kelley, or Ivy Page.

The essential part of her collections the classic woman and verily predominantly use the main and indispensable parts of pin-up culture, in the Heavy Metal and Steampunk collections also – and this manifests that nowadays subcultures doesn’t circumscribe sharply.
Like the ideal of timeless woman, the trends can be more and more classical.

Laces, soft, transparent textiles, airy, graceful lines, transparency vs. firmness describes this angelic feminine, at times expreslsy elegant, classical collection.
Collection: Chantilly Dreams
Fine and harder contrasts describes this collection, follow the line of the body, sometimes use features to fix a bit the contrasts.
Collection: Heavy Metal
All you can do, everything you love and all you can wear! Bold, colorful, high-contrasted textiles pairing with one-colored or more colors and textures layered and for the idea: we can see somewhere the big stars of heavy metal( band logos, pictures…). The big contrasts of the real classical forms/tailoring vs. rousing, colofrul textiles. In addition who loves punk, metal, rockabilly or psychobilly, this can be a really unique piece in their garderobe. ![]()
Collection: Autumn-winter 2010 / Steampunk
An absolute steampunk collection with it’s typical features: a bit antique, a bit futuristic, vintage, victorian and goth elements. Besides the bigger and bigger trands to steampunk, this is a very colorful collection ( Maya absolutely anticipate the new trends besides that steampunk not by a long only fashion). We can see also shiny textiles, leather, vinyl, latex combinations what can be beloved the enthusiasts of fetish also – Maya knows the fact that fetish and domina styles are also important parts of some timeless look.
